Oscar Marín appointed new Director of the MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology at King’s College London

Professor Oscar Marín has been appointed as the new Director of the MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology in the School of Biomedical Sciences, and will take up the role in July 2014.

The MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology is endowed in partnership by the Medical Research Council and King’s College London and was founded by Professor Lumsden in 2000 to promote research in this rapidly expanding area of neuroscience. The Centre seeks to advance understanding of brain development and neurodevelopmental diseases through collaborative multi-disciplinary studies using a variety of model organisms.

Professor Marín is currently a Research Professor at Instituto de Neurociencias, Alicante (Spain) and has received numerous honours and awards in neurobiological research, including the Banco Sabadell Award for Biomedical Research (2008) and the FENS-EJN Young Investigator Award (2012). He was selected as one of 22 founding members of the Scientific Council of the European Research Council in 2005. He also serves on several editorial boards, including the Board of Reviewing Editors at Science.
