I completed my undergraduate and Master degree in Medical Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine at the University of Milan. In 2013, I moved to Leuven, Belgium, for my PhD and studied the role of cell surface molecules in the development of precise synaptic connectivity patterns in the laboratory of Joris de Wit at the VIB – KU Leuven Centre for Brain and Disease research. For my postdoctoral training, I joined Beatriz Rico’s laboratory in March 2019. Here, supported by an EMBO Long-Term fellowship, I am investigating the molecular mechanisms that govern the precise wiring of distinct Somatostatin Martinotti subpopulations into cortical microcircuits.
Outside the lab, I like to attend art expositions, reading and running.
